NEWLAND – C.L. Burleson, 81, of the Crab Orchard community, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006 in the Brian Center of Spruce Pine. He was the son of the late Coleman and Lula Shook Burleson. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Cabrera; and a sister, Jeanette Benfield. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Alberta “Brownie” Burleson of the home; a daughter, Barbara Greene of Newland; two sons, Floyd and C.L. Burleson Jr., both of Newland; sisters, Lucille Buchanan and Martha Benfield, both of Newland, Mary Johnson and Elzora Dale, both of Morganton, and Nora Ann Lail and Barbara Young, both of Valdese; two brothers, Demery and Glenn Burleson, both of Newland; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. The Rev. Harold Dellinger officiated. Burial was in Big Meadows Cemetery. The family received friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour Saturday at the funeral home.
