SPOKANE – Wa-Hi’s Yasmeen Colis placed fourth in the girls competition at the Highlander Invitational cross country meet here on Saturday. Her time was 15:06 over the 2.5-mile course.

Boys races over the same course were divided into classes, and the Blue Devils’ top finishers were Bowe Ebding, who placed 14th in 13:18, and Trent Sislow, who placed 22nd in 13:40. Both ran in the junior division.

Wa-Hi’s Sam Wenberg (23rd, 13:54), Micah Babbitt (26th, 13:57) and Mark Hodgson (28th, 14:05) competed at the senior boys level.

Michael Higgins placed 26th in 14:25 in the sophomore division, and Jose Gomez placed fourth at 14:01 in the freshman division.

Steven Olsen of Ferris ran the overall fastest race among the boys at 12:38.

The girls racers competed as a group and the Blue Devils to record places and times in addition to Colis were Helen Reich (30th, 16:21), Marieka Wenberg (44th, 16:45), Eva Reich (57th, 17:02), Patricia Roe (92nd, 17:54), Molly Hiatt (93rd, 17:55) and Heather Goodwin (103rd, 18:18).

Megan O’Reilly of Mount Spokane won the girls racein 13:53, one second off of the course record.

“This is a good course, typically with some fast times this early in the season,’ Wa-Hi coach Mike Locati said.

Wa-Hi will travel to the Mountain West Classic Invitational in Missoula, Mont. on Saturday.
