A violent two-vehicle crash Saturday night in Oklahoma killed a Houston woman and critically injured a Houston man.
Kathy D. Skaggs, 42, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on Oklahoma 97 near Sapulpa. Robert Flowers, 49, was taken by helicopter to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. His condition Monday was described as “extremely critical.”
According to Sapulpa Sgt. Mike Pullen, Flowers was driving a Nissan Pathfinder northbound when the vehicle left the highway, overcorrected and entered the center median of the road. Pullen said Flowers lost control and the vehicle rolled on the top of a Ford Explorer driven by Sapulpa native Travis Cantrell, 26. Miss Skaggs’ son, Tyler, 12, escaped serious injury in the wreck.
Cantrell was also in extremely critical condition.
Miss Skaggs handled janitorial duties and acted as a substitute mail carrier for Flowers. Employees at the local post office said they were saddened by the tragedy and are hoping that Flowers overcomes his injuries.
