Lady Tigers Advance in Districts

The Houston Lady Tigers had no problem with Mtn. View Liberty when it mattered most.

Senior Trezha Malam hit three 3-pointers and led three players in double figures with 20 points as Houston cruised past Liberty 54-27 Saturday night in the opening round of the Class 3 District 10 tournament.

The second-seeded Lady Tigers advance to face Conway in Wednesday’s 7:30 p.m. semifinals at Cabool High School.

Houston (15-9) needed overtime to beat the Lady Eagles during the regular season. The second matchup wasn’t even close.

Liberty managed just seven field goals and Kelsi Chowning, the conference’s second-leading scorer, was held to 10 points — less than half her season average.

Sophomore center Holly Thomas scored 11 points and Lexie Malam added 10 for the Lady Tigers, who raced out to a quick 10-1 lead and had an 11-point halftime advantage.
