A downtown revitalization group received a report on its annual membership drive and discussed two ongoing projects during a meeting last week.

Downtown Houston Inc. reported success in its membership drive. Renewal statements were mailed earlier, and new businesses in the community also will be targeted. The dues are $15 for individuals and $25 for businesses. They can be mailed to the Downtown Houston Inc., P.O. Box 170, Houston, Mo. 65483. The group’s strong membership base has allowed it to be successful at several grants and tax credit programs.

In other matters, members:

-Will seek to have the vendor on its engraved bricks, Wolford Monument, to complete the project by the end of March. That allows time for the installation of irrigation, completion of landscaping and other needs before the Emmett Kelly Clown Festival, which is the first weekend in May.

-Heard a report on replacement of a roof at the former Haney Market near Oak Hill Drive and U.S. 63. The location will be transformed into a welcome center.
