R.W. “Bill” Matlock, 89, son of Charles Oliver and Mae Pearl Willson Matlock, was born Feb. 3, 1918, at Lenox. He died March 27, 2007.

Mr. Matlock was a mechanic for most of his life, working at Ford garages at Licking and Salem.

Affectionately know as Uncle Willie, he was an avid deer and turkey hunter and made numerous trips to Colorado even into his senior years.

He was preceded by his wives, Lorene Black Matlock and Viola Jean Snow Matlock; brothers, Charlie and Alfred; sisters, Cecil Dawson, Celia Flatt and Ora Gibbs; one step-grandson and a great-grandson.

Surviving are a son, Ron of Lenox; daughter, Judy Gilbert of St. James; stepsons, Larry and Harry; stepdaughter, Sandra Swallow; 10 grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Services were March 31 at the Fox Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harry Foley officiating. Burial was in the Mount Herman Cemetery near Lenox.
