Lillian A. Wheeler, 90, daughter of William and Icy Flowers Shelton, was born Sept. 8, 1916, at Simmons. She died April 23, 2007, at Houston House Nursing Center.

She and Roscoe Wheeler were married Aug. 12, 1935, at Houston by the Rev. J.R. Halbrook. The Wheelers had three children.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was in charge of church dinners for many years, serving as head cook and supervising church socials, get-togethers and funeral dinners.

Mrs. Wheeler enjoyed the outdoors and working in her garden. She was involved at the Houston Senior Center for many years, helping raise funds to build the new facility. She was president of the center for a few years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; four brothers, Ray, Earl, Jack and Bill; two sisters, Mable Allen and Verl Johnson; and an infant daughter, Linda Kay Wheeler.

Surviving are two sons, Ron Wheeler of St. Charles and Keith Wheeler of Kansas City; one sister, Doris Hill of El Dorado, Kan.; one grandson, one great-grandson and two great-great-granddaughters.

Services were April 25 at the First Baptist Church in Houston with the Rev. Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial was in the Ozark Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
