Glen Roger Speer, 68, son of Glen C. Speer and Reba Adbernathy Speer, was born Oct. 27, 1938, at Zelma. He died April 10, 2007, at his home at Wentzville.

Mr. Speer served in the U.S. Army Reserves and worked for Wagoner Electric for 30 years.

He was baptized in his 30s at Dardene Presbyterian Church, where he remained a member.

He married Glenna “Mickie” Young April 11, 1959. They had four children.

He enjoyed watching football and baseball and having barbecues in his backyard with family and friends. He was an avid reader of World War II books.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Speer; and sister, Dwen Pointsett.

Surviving are his wife of the home; four children, Lori Ann Ortmann of St. Louis, Karen Renee Vitro of Elsberry, Steven Mark Speer of Kansas City and Jennifer Lee Henry of Wright City; and 11 grandchildren.

Memorial services were April 14 at the Fox Funeral Home Chapel in Licking with Pastor Jimmy Harrington officiating. Burial was in the Shafer Cemetery.
