An investigation into a Licking murder continues this week, said Texas County Sheriff Carl Watson.

Test results from a Missouri State Highway Patrol crime laboratory are expected to shed light on the death of Sally J. Wofford, 65, who was found dead last Monday from a gunshot wound to the head. Watson said the retired bookkeeper was shot, and the house that she shared with Tom Hamrick on Highway 137 was set on fire.

The house sustained major interior damage, but it still stands. The fire, authorities said, started in a basement.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Texas County Sheriff’s Department and State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating.

The following day, authorities answered a call on Highway V, where the body of Peggy Worlow, 46, was found inside a burning stone home. Watson said the death was ruled suicide by arson. An investigation shows that Worlow had threatened to commit the act over a period of time.
