Miles Owen Smith, 67, son of Debt J.C. Smith and Beatrice Estelene Olson Smith Crabtree, was born Aug. 24, 1939, at DeKalb, Ill. He died April 25, 2007, at his home at Houston.
He married Margaret Marie James June 30, 1957. They had five children.
Mr. Smith was a member of the Midvale Pentecostal Holiness Church for more than 26 years. He was saved Feb. 15, 1981, and served as deacon, Sunday school teacher and Bible scholar.
Mr. Smith loved feeding the birds, mowing his lawn and reading the Bible. He drove a semi for many years, his last run was hauling milk for David Melton Trucking.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Surviving are his wife of almost 50 years of the home at Houston; his mother of Springfield; his children, Wayne C.W. Smith of Houston, Mark J.R. Smith of Ozark, Loretta Bailey of Joplin and Mike Smith and Gary Smith of Raymondville; one brother, Kenny Smith of Marshfield; sisters, Wilma Faye Jackson of Oklahoma City, Okla., Vivian Stringer of Hartshorn and Sherrye Kuhn of Springfield; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildrne.
Services were April 28 at the Midvale Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Emmett Bradford and the Rev. Dorvan Stringer officiating. Burial was in the Midvale Cemetery under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home of Summersville.
