Ottis Melvon Hood, 91, son of James Edward Hood and Sallie Ann Lawson Hood, was born June 13, 1915, at Duke. He died May 9, 2007, at Life Care of Waynesville.

He married Etha Josphine Mobley Aug. 4, 1934, at Edgar Springs. They had two children.

Mr. Hood was a star route mail carrier in the ’50s and later retired from Civil Service at Fort Leonard Wood. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; one sister, Oma LaFever; and four brothers, Lewis Hood, Mert Hood, Ray Hood and Delbert Hood.

Surviving are his two children, Charlotte Yvonne Jordan of Roll and James Hood of Licking; three grandsons and six great-grandchildren.

Services were May 12 at the Fox Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Tubbs officiating. Burial was in the Ozark Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Rolla.
