The Houston Lady Tigers 11-12 softball team won three more games the past week to improve to 9-1.
Houston completed the week Monday night with a 12-0 blanking of Cabool. On June 12, the Lady Tigers thumped Cabool 18-1. Three days later, Houston avenged its only loss of the season by beating Eminence 9-7.
On Monday, Kayla Kelley only allowed four baserunners in three innings and struck out four. Alexa Ichord led the offense with an inside-the-park grand slam in the second. Kayla Kelley also had a home run and two RBIs.
Amber Sillyman, Abigail Adams, Haley Kelley, Amber Cornelison, Taylor Franklin and Kayla Herndon all had hits and scored.
“This was a team effort all the way around,” coach Craig Pounds said. “It’s coming together really well.”
At Eminence, Ichord had her fourth inside-the-park homer in three games to spark the offense. Sarah Garrett also homered.
“This was a good win for us,” Pounds said. “I am looking forward to the rest of the season the way we are playing right now.”
