The Houston Lady Tigers 11-12 softball team dropped its first game of the season.

After moving to 6-0 with a 16-3 victory last Tuesday against Willow Springs 2, Houston lost at home Thursday 13-7 to Eminence.

“I’m not sure what happened,” coach Craig Pounds said. “We played without intensity at the plate and the field. We just weren’t ready to play and they were.”

Alexa Ichord and Amber Sillyman each had inside-the-park home runs. They combined to score five of the Lady Tigers’ seven runs.

Houston starter Kayla Kelley gave up 12 hits and struck out six.

Two days earlier against Willow Springs, Kelley was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs in the Lady Tigers’ rout.

Sillyman was 2-for-2 with a double and two runs. Ichord tripled, knocked in three runs and stole two bases.

Kelly struck out six in the win.

“Kayla and Taylor are doing a good job pitching,” Pounds said. “We just need to give them support on the field from start to finish.”

Houston travels to Eminence on Friday and hosts Cabool 2 Monday.
