After consecutive losses, the Houston Lady Tigers 15-and-under softball team bounced back Monday night with a 12-4 win against Cabool.

Houston began the week Thursday with a 17-12 loss at Mountain View. The following night, the Lady Tigers lost 7-6 at Eminence.

Hannah Pounds and Shelbi Moore teamed up for 15 strikeouts while only allowing three hits against Cabool. Moore was 3-for-4 with a pair of triples and three RBIs. Paula Chernowsky had two hits.

“We got back on the winning track,” coach Craig Pounds said. “We needed this one to give us some confidence.”

At Mountain View, Camie Weisacosky was 4-for-4 with an inside-the-park home run, four runs and three RBIs. Houston committed 10 errors.

At Eminence, Hannah Pounds struck out 10 batters in seven innings in her first start of the season. Pounds, Sydney Wilson, Chernowsky, Lyndsey Tarrants and A’ndrea White had hits for the Lady Tigers.

“We had too many errors in the field again that led to five of their runs,” Craig Pounds said. “But we did pick up our game a notch, and I feel good about that.”

Houston travels to Licking tonight (Thursday) for its final regular season game. The league tournament begins Monday. The finals are June 30 in Houston.
