The Houston Lady Tigers 15-and-under softball team improved to 5-1 with a pair of lopsided victories.
On Thursday, Lyndsey Tarrants was 3-for-3 with three RBIs to lead Houston past Birch Tree 15-0 in three innings.
Shelbi Moore scored four times, Tory Burgess had a pair of hits and Paula Chernowsky knocked in three runs for the Lady Tigers.
Moore struck out three and didn’t give up a hit in the complete-game victory.
“We hit the ball well and Shelbi was hitting the strike zone. That’s a good combination for us,” coach Craig Pounds said.
Moore got her fifth straight victory on Tuesday as Houston downed Winona 15-6.
Moore, who struck out four and gave up six hits, walked in all five of her plate appearances and scored four runs. Tarrants was 4-for-4 and knocked in four runs. Paula Chernowsky had two RBIs, and Sydney Wilson scored three times.
Houston was able to overcome a slow start and seven errors.
“Luckily, our offense came alive in the middle innings and the defense got better,” Pounds said. “We were fortunate to come out on top.”
Houston hosts Eminence at 7:30 tonight (Thursday) in a rematch of last year’s league championship game. Summersville travels to Houston on June 11.
