Members of the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce attended a volunteer leadership conference earlier this month.
Brenda Senter, the chamber’s executive director, Scott Roberts and Kevin McGowen attended the June 12 conference at Lake of the Ozarks. Patrick McGaughey, recognized as America’s chamber mentor as a consultant and facilitator with hundreds of chambers across the United States, was the conference’s speaker.
Chamber board members from throughout the state attended the one-day conference. Topics ranged from chairmanship responsibilities and board strategic planning to volunteer and membership development and non-dues income development. For lunch, the state chambers discussed together where they saw their respective chamber in five years.
“It was a highly entertaining yet informative conference,” said Roberts, vice president of the Houston chamber. “We received practical and useful knowledge to bring back to our own chamber.”
