A recently completed 30,000 square foot building in the Houston Industrial Park is attracting the attention of a manufacturer who has visited here multiple times. The news came Monday during a meeting of the Houston City Council.
Ron Reed, economic development director, told the council that an unnamed southwest Missouri manufacturer has visited the building near North Industrial Drive and West Highway 17 several times, and the community appears to be in the running for its plant site. Should that occur, the city would move quickly to seek federal monies that would allow for other infrastructure improvements in the park, including the addition of a well and water tower.
The city’s Industrial Development Authority undertook the project earlier to reinvest funds it received from the sale of another industry site on South Sam Houston Blvd. The new building is situated west of Houston House, and it represents the last building site available at the park. Earlier, the Houston Development Co. invested in property east of the chamber fairgrounds for the development of another industry sites.
