The Houston Lady Tigers 15-and-under softball team opened Texas County League Tournament play Monday night with a 14-0 shutout of visiting Cabool.

Hannah Pounds and Shelbi Moore combined to allow just two hits in the victory.

Moore went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs to lead the Lady Tigers’ offense. Paula Chernowsky had two hits and scored twice. Lyndsey Tarrants also scored twice.

“This is a good start to the tournament for us,” coach Craig Pounds said. “We played with intensity and purpose. I think we are playing our best ball of the season right now and this is the time for us.”

Houston faces Eminence at 7:30 p.m. Thursday on the road. The tournament finals begin at noon Saturday in Houston.
