Road Closure at Cabool

The U.S. 63 and Business 60 intersection in Cabool will temporarily close beginning today. According to officials with the Missouri Department of Transportation, the closure is necessary to allow crews to work on the roadway leading up to the area where intersection improvements have been under way since early March. It is anticipated the closure will last approximately 11 days, weather permitting.

Recommended alternate routes are:

·Southbound U.S. 63 to Cabool – Traffic will use U.S. 63 to U.S. 60 west and exit onto Highway 181 north to Cabool.

·Southbound U.S. 63 to Route 60 west – Traffic will use U.S. 63 to U.S. 60 west

·Eastbound 60 to U.S. 63 north – Traffic will take the last exit (U.S. 63 north).

The portion of roadway from U.S. 60 to the U.S. 63 and Business 60 intersection will reopen just before the closure of the intersection itself. Traffic will again be able to access U.S. 63 from the first westbound exit off U.S. 60 once this second closure becomes effective.

Anticipated completion of the entire project, which encompasses the intersection in Cabool and two bridges north of town on U.S. 63, is expected in August. Work includes resurfacing, shouldering and intersection improvements. The project was awarded to Gaines Construction Inc., of Wentzville, at a total cost of about $2.2 million. The project length is 3.4 miles beginning at U.S. 60 then continuing north ending at Highway U.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution and observe all traffic control signs in this area during construction. The resident engineer’s office in Willow Springs will be in direct charge of this project.
