Work will begin this summer on U.S. 63 from Highway F through the Houston city limits, the Missouri Department of Transportation said last week.

The $113, 407 project, which was awarded to Chester Bross Construction of Hannibal, involves diamond grinding concrete pavement. According to MoDOT officials, diamond grinding will extend the life of the existing pavement and provide a smoother ride.

This project encompasses 1.4 miles within the city limits of Houston. Work is expected to be completed by November. Other plans for this section of highway, but not part of this contract, include a chip seal preventive maintenance treatment, which will preserve the condition of the asphalt shoulders.
