Plans are underway for the Texas County Fair-Old Settlers Reunion, which is Aug. 8-11. The event, sponsored by the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce, is the largest summertime event in Texas County.
The fair and its sister event, the OSR, are staged at the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Fairgrounds on North U.S. 63. In addition to grandstand attractions and a carnival midway, the Texas County Fair Board sponsors livestock shows and a junior livestock sale.
Here is the grandstand schedule:
WEDNESDAY – A contest takeoff the popular television, “American Idol.” The event is coordinated by KUNQ.
THURSDAY – Rod’s Auto Sales, Houston, will present a bull bash. Russell Cellular is the primary sponsor of the Texas County Health Fair.
FRIDAY and SATURDAY – KUKU will present a demolition derby, which is one of the largest ones in southwest Missouri.
A new carnival joins this year’s lineup. Fun Time Shows of Doniphan is the midway operator.
The Texas County Fair Board sponsors several shows, which begins on Wednesday with a horse show for children. Those attending will see dairy, beef, swine, sheep, goats, rabbits and poultry.
