The Houston School board decided last week to sell a home constructed by a building trades class and made several hiring decisions for the new school year.

The house, situated in Meadowview Estates in the southern part of the community, will be sold Aug. 13. The minimum bid is $174,900. An open house to pick up bid sheets is Aug. 4-5 and Aug. 11-12.

In employment matters, members:

-Accepted the resignation of Elizabeth Heim as high school softball coach.

-Hired Mountain Grove native Nathaniel Barbe as high school science instructor.

-Employed Wayne Jessen as in-school suspension coordinator and coach of the high school boys’ basketball team.

-Named Daphne McCormick as a bus driver.

-Employed Seth McDowell as high school history teacher and assistant football and basketball coach.

-Accepted a $64,946 bid from Asphalt Maintenance to preserve asphalt on campus.

-Will hold a public hearing at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 13 to set a levy for the 2007 tax year.

-Approved plans to hold an auction of surplus property.

-Okayed plans to add five signs at Tiger Field.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. Aug. 13 at the elementary library for its next meeting.
