A 28-year-old Raymondville man is planning to pay off his house after he won $100,000 instantly playing the Missouri Lottery’s scratchers game, “Blazin’ Hot Bucks.” Matthew Aguirre purchased the $5 ticket at Corner Express in Licking June 25 on his way home from work.
“I stopped to get gas and a soda,” Aquirre said. “I also bought four tickets, and I started scratching them as I was walking out the door. When I saw the prize amounts, I thought, ‘This can’t be right.’ So, I went back in to have them check it.”
Aquirre, who is a guard at the South Central Correction Center in Licking, said several of his co-workers had also stopped in the business after their shift, so they joined in congratulating him.
“A few of them wanted to hold (the ticket), but I didn’t let go of it,” Aquirre said.
