Wilson Howard Murray, 83, son of Wilson and Martha Sturgill Murray, was born Oct. 4, 1923, at Success. He died June 29, 2007, at his home at Bucyrus.
He served in World War II aboard the USS New Mexico and was highly decorated in seven different campaigns.
He married Lorine E. Callahan April 30, 1948. They lived on a farm at Bucyrus. Mr. Murray was a farmer and retired from Fort Leonard Wood as a federal firefighter.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, three sisters, an infant son, daughter and grandson.
Surviving are five children, Mark Murray of Springtown, Texas, Beatrice Geddings of Chapin, S.C., David Murray of Houston, Paul Murray of Raymondville and James Murray of Bucyrus; one brother, Keith Murray of St. Louis; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services were July 13 at the Bucyrus Baptist Church with the Rev. Wesley Wallace and the Rev. Tony Sigman officiating. Burial was in the Hickory Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
