Women Charged as Neal Accomplices Appear in Court

Three women accused of aiding a fugitive wanted for murder entered not guilty pleas during appearances last week in Texas County Circuit Court.

The three are charged with helping Neldon Neal elude authorities, who for 62 days searched the area trying to find the suspect in northwest Texas County.

Erica D. Moore, 31, Mary E. Thomas, 38; and Evelyn Lansdown, 32, entered the pleas, and they were ordered back to court Sept. 4, according to court records. According to the criminal complaints, the woman provided Neal with food, camping supplies and other items after he was accused of shooting his wife, Judy, 51, at their Roby trailer on March 13. Neal, 61, was arrested in May at a campsite along the Gasconade River in Laclede County and immediately was sent to prison to begin serving the remainder of a previous term. He is charged with second-degree murder. A preliminary hearing is Aug. 2.

A fourth woman, Kathy McComas, 52, was set to appear for a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Texas County Associate Circuit Court.

All four women are free on bond.
