Texas County and the City of Houston will sell several tracts of property on the steps of the county courthouse because the owners failed to pay their taxes.
The land tax sale is slated for Monday.
In a publication notice published earlier in the Herald, both entities were selling 42 pieces of property – 40 are conducted by the county and the other two by the City of Houston. It’s the first time that the latter has used the procedure to sell property for which it is owed taxes.
Notices were earlier sent to those who hadn’t paid property taxes for the last three years.
Upon the sale of the property, the previous owner has one year to redeem the property or it is transferred to those purchased it.
