The Texas County Health Department will hold an open house 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 4 at its new location on North U.S. 63. The public is invited to tour the 7,000 square foot building that was recently renovated.
The relocation from First Street to the former Division of Family Services building was made possible through a partnership with the Texas County Health Fund, a not-for-profit corporation that pursues grants and acquires funding to provide growth for the Texas County Health Department.
Residents pay a 10-cent per $100 assessed valuation property tax to help support the agency.
“I encourage everyone to come out and tour the new county health department facility and learn more about the services our agencies provides,” said Jackie Smith, health department administrator. “The extra space in the new building affords us the opportunity for growth in the future.”
Gentry Construction Co. of Houston was the contractor for the project.
