Frieda Brightman, 78, daughter of Wilhelm Gansmeier and Maria Koltenbacker Nagle, was born Jan. 5, 1929, in Ruhpolding, Germany. She died July 29, 2007, at the home of her grandson in Springfield.

She married Dennis Brightman in 1950 in Salzburg, Austria, while he was serving in the military. They moved to Houston in 1960.

Mrs. Brightman lived in Houston for 46 years, spending the last year and a half with her daughter, Denise Vest, at Clarksville, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, an infant, Claudia, and Melinda Price; infant twin sons, Larry and Gary; a sister, Marion; and brothers, Max and Alfred Nagle.

Surviving are a son, Col. David Brightman of Gettysburg, Pa.; three daughters, Virginia Finn of Raymondville, Denise Vest of Clarksville, Tenn., and Renee Bishop of Springfield; two brothers, Wilhelm Gansmeier and Herbert Nagle of Ruhpolding, Bavaria; a sister, Helga Steinbieber of Ruhpolding, Bavaria; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandcildren.

The body was cremated.
