The Houston Senior Center has set a goal of $2,500 for a Sept. 14 walk that will raise funds for its meals program.

The money is used to support the congregate and home-delivered meals programs and cover extra costs associated with operating the center.

“We have recently incurred costs with a new refrigerator unit, replacing ceiling tiles and updating safety equipment,” said Bernadine Hohlt of the center. Persons who would like to make a donation can do so by mail at 301 S. Grand Ave., Houston, or drop it by the center.

Hohlt offered an invitation for residents to stop by the center. A salad bar is available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, along with a lunch for a suggested contribution of $2.75 or $5 if you are under 60 years of age.
