The Texas County Fair’s Junior Livestock Sale brought in about $85,000 during an auction Saturday. That was an increase of about $5,000 from last year.

Sponsored by the Texas County Fair Board, the auction saw 106 head of livestock sold.

Logan Taylor’s grand champion steer brought $3.20 a pound. Romines Motor Co. in Houston paid $4,320 for the animal. Several businesses and individuals participated in the auction at the livestock pavilion.

In all, 64 hogs, 20 steers, nine lambs and 13 goats were sold. The tally from the sales: sheep, $1,413; goats, $1,554; steers, $40,805; hogs, $41,061; ribbon sale for poultry, rabbits and water fowl, $425.
