Sales tax revenue for the City of Houston was flat in the latest monthly report from the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The total from a one-cent sales tax collected by merchants was $17,317, which is down $903 from the same period a year ago. For the first seven months of the year, $335,207 has been collected. That’s an increase of $7,611 from the same period a year ago.

Quarter-cent sales taxes earmarked for sidewalks and roads, as well as utility extensions, generated $4,135 each. For the year, the tally is $80,839 each, which is up $1,765 from a year ago.

An eighth-cent sales tax with proceeds going toward retirement of debt for a new fire truck netted $2,067. The total for the year is $40,186.
