An early morning burglary spree by two local men that included stealing beer and gas before breaking into a vehicle ended a few hours later when they were arrested.

Delmer Robbins, 20, of Licking, and Marvin Dwain Hayes Jr., 17, of Houston, were charged with second-degree burglary and property damage, theft and stealing following the Aug. 9 incident, according to Texas County Sheriff Carl Watson.

Watson said the spree began sometime after midnight when the pair allegedly broke into C&B Package Store, one mile east of Houston on Highway B. A window was busted out and several cases of beer were removed from a cooler.

A short time later, a vehicle left the Shell Station in Licking without paying for $38 in gas. Watson said authorities had identified the two potential suspects when a third call reported a vehicle that was broken into along the Big Piney River near Boiling Springs.

Robbins and Hayes were arrested later the same morning. Robbins is being held in the Texas County Jail. Hayes is free on $20,000 bond.
