Two stops in Texas County are planned as Rep. Jo Ann Emerson swings through the area as part of her annual farm tour of southern Missouri.
Emerson plans visits from 10 – 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Texas County Food Pantry on East Highway 17 in Houston and 10:30 – 11 a.m. at the Texas County Health Department on U.S. 63 in Houston.
This is the 26th annual Emerson farm tour, an event started by Emerson’s late husband, Bill.
“We have a new farm bill in process in Congress, exciting new opportunities for our agricultural community to play in the production of alternative fuels and some continuing challenges facing our farmers and ranchers,” Emerson said Thursday. “The important discussions we have on the farm tour enable me to do the best possible job representing the producers, businesses and communities of our rural congressional district in Congress.”
