State Rep. Don Wells, R- Cabool, and Houston Chamber Executive Director Brenda Senter attended a luncheon last week alongside other community leaders with Gen. William McCoy at U.S. Army Maneuver Support Center at Fort Leonard Wood.
“There is always an informational time presented by the fort about the strategic planning going forward on the installation. General McCoy said that at the fort their goal is, ‘Be World Class in All We Do!’ He also told the community leaders that he saw enormous opportunities for the five-county area which is Phelps, Pulaski, Laclede, Texas, and Camden counties,” said Senter.
She reported said that all indications look toward more growth of up to 3,000 additional soldiers.
“We are always so pleased to be a part of the post and appreciate the general including us in their planning,” Senter said. “We may be more distance and harder to get to than the I-44 communities, but our new Miller’s Grill at St. Robert and Shriver Cabinets contract with American Eagle began with a contact at the regular luncheons. Our commitment at the fort does make a difference.”
