A Missouri-based company with offices in Houston – Penmac Personnel Services -was named to the first-ever Inc. 5,000 list of fastest-growing private companies in the country.

The list, an extension of Inc. magazine’s “Inc. 500,” catches many businesses that are too big to grow at the pace to receive recognition in the Inc. 500, as well a host of smaller firms.

“The Inc. 5,000 provides the most comprehensive look at the most important part of the economy – the entrepreneurial part,” said project manager Jim Melloan. “The expansion of the list has allowed us to tell the stories of larger companies, older companies and a wealth of industries like manufacturing and construction that are underreported in the business media.”

Penmac, a certified woman-owned Missouri corporation headquartered in Springfield, is one of the largest employment firms in Missouri. Founded in 1988 by Patti Penny, Penmac has experienced phenomenal growth from one home office to 43 branches in seven states. It serves more than 3,000 associates working for more than 600 clients nationwide. Penmac has been named “Best of the Ozarks” for the past five consecutive years by readers of the Springfield News-Leader. In 2006, Penmac ranked No. 29 of the top 500 women-owned businesses in the U.S. Diversity Business named Penmac No. 1 of the top 50 women-owned businesses in Missouri.
