Gov. Matt Blunt included Texas County in a drought advisory Friday and activated Missouri’s Drought Assessment Committee to monitor the situation. The governor also included 23 counties in a drought alert.
Texas County is among 65 included in the drought advisory, which is a less serious level but one officials are carefully monitoring. Only 26 Missouri counties are not considered to be in some stage of drought.
The Missouri Drought Assessment Committee will begin immediate reviews of the affected areas under the Missouri Drought Response Plan, which defines four levels of increasing concern based on the severity of the lack of moisture and the corresponding impacts.
