The Houston eighth grade volleyball team completed its season last week with a third-place finish in the Texas County Tournament.

The Lady Tigers defeated Licking 25-18, 22-25, 25-17 in the third-place game.

Houston, which also finished third at the Cabool Tournament, finished its season 6-4.

“I thought they had a great season,” coach Jodie Tottingham said. “They made a lot of improvements throughout the year. I hope these improvements continue on for those planning on playing in high school. I am proud of them all.”

In pool play, Houston beat Success 20-10, 20-9 before splitting with Cabool.

The Lady Tigers lost their first bracket play game to Summersville, 25-12, 25-23.

In the regular-season finale Thursday against Licking, Haylee Kell and Mackenzie Scott had 19 kills apiece in a 25-18, 25-22 loss.

Lauren Hoover had 10 points and three aces.
