A committee met Sept. 25 to schedule events for the upcoming Christmas season in Houston. The theme for the annual parade and business lighting contest is “My Favorite Christmas Movie Is…”
“We have started early so that store owners and organizations along with our residents have time to mark it on their calendars and to plan,” said Brenda Senter, Houston Area Chamber of Commerce executive director.
This year’s calendar is:
– Nov. 9-10: Christmas Open Houses
– Nov. 10: Second Annual Christmas Extravaganza at Loretto House
– Nov. 16: Tree Lighting
– Nov. 24: Taste of Christmas
– Nov. 26-Dec. 17: Annual Christmas Shopping Spree
– Dec. 1: Tour of Homes
– Dec. 8: Christmas Parade, Dog Show, Live Entertainment
– Dec. 17: Stuff Your Stocking
Senter said other events will be added to the schedule, including the Houston Schools Christmas programs, free movie Saturdays, church programs and other business promotions. The chamber Web site will host these dates, details and events schedule. Any organization or community event can be posted with the chamber for its community calendar.
