Houston will host several holiday open houses on Nov. 9 and 10.

The event includes the unveiling of ornaments, gifts, decorations, foods and new ideas for the holiday shopper and party planner. While attending, the attendees are treated to foods offered at the business receptions.

“Open house for us is the real start of the holiday season. With all the prizes, contests and freebies we give away in those two days, it’s sort of like our gift to our customers,” said Mark Forbes of Forbes’ Pharmacy.

The Houston Area Chamber of Commerce is promoting the events by listing them with pictures on its Web site.

“Christmas Open Houses are a great opportunity for our chamber members to showcase all they offer to the public for the holidays. It is also a wonderful time for out-of-towners to see Houston. More than ever we are getting people in our office who really like the quaintness and friendliness of Houston, so the open houses are a festive invite to visit Houston,” said chamber director Brenda Senter.

Businesses participating are Ashley Analysis, Brown Shoe Store and French Hen Gifts & Antiques, CHC Do It Center, Houston; D & L Florist, Forbes’ Pharmacy, Grand Appliance, Grand Avenue Mall, Houston Dollar Shoppe, Houston Florist, Neal’s Sporting Goods, The Embroidery Shop, Pond Trail Farm Guesthouse, RJ’s KnifeWorks and Rootin’ Tootin’ Alpacas and Farm Store.

Anyone needing phone numbers, addresses and locations can come by the chamber for one of its free visitor’s guide and membership directories or check out the businesses on the Chamber Web site: www.houstonmochamber.com
