A wildfire north of Houston – accelerated by wind and dry conditions – was battled Sunday by several departments.
Houston, Raymondville, Licking and Roby firefighters were on the scene near Mineral Springs and Horseshoe drives.
A Missouri Department of Conservation bulldozer was called as the raging fire shot tall flames into the air. As the winds whipped the fire, a cracking sound was heard across fields.
Houston firemen were called earlier in the day to the area after a vehicle caught fire. They were asked to respond again late Sunday afternoon.
The fire was one of several reported in the area.
