During next week’s Senate recess, U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill will visit Fort Leonard Wood on Tuesday and meet with troops stationed there. McCaskill will make a stop at the military base as part of a two-day trip across the state to visit several of Missouri’s military installations, including Whiteman Air Force Base and Air National Guard units in St. Joseph and St. Louis.

While at Ft. Leonard Wood, McCaskill will have the opportunity to tour the base’s facilities, meet with officials and share a meal with the troops and their families. She expects to hear about the readiness of the various units, quality of life at the base, past and upcoming deployments to combat theaters and how families are being supported. McCaskill will use the information to inform her oversight work as a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and to better be able to support Missouri’s bases and military service members.
