Strong to severe thunderstorms will develop over far southwest Missouri late this afternoon, National Weather Service said.

The storms are expected to move into the Ozarks this evening.

Damaging wind gusts exceeding 60 miles per hour are possible with the stronger storms, the service said.

The NWS said there is a small risk for an isolated tornado.

However, marginal levels of instability will limit the risk for tornadoes and large hail, it said.

Areas of flash flooding are expected.
