Sales tax collections in the City of Houston during the latest distribution period were flat, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.
The total from a one-cent sales tax collected by merchants was $48,751, which is a decrease of $2,688 from a year ago. For the year, the tally is $473,482, which is up $9,059 from a year ago.
Two quarter-cent sales taxes are collected for streets and sidewalks, as well as utility improvements. Each contributed about $11,794, which is down $676 from a year ago. For the first nine months of the year, collections stand at $114,697 each, which is an increase of more than $2,000.
An eighth-cent sales tax for repayment on the city’s new fire truck totaled $5,896. For the year, $57,115 has been collected.
