Chance Davis had four rushing touchdowns, including the go-ahead score with 9:15 left as Ava held off Mountain-View Liberty 27-20 Friday night.

Davis scored on 1, 3 and 1 yard scores in the second quarter alone for Ava (3-2, 3-1 SCA). But the Eagles got a 12-yard run from Luke Yarber and with one second left in the half – just 29 seconds after Davis’ third score – closed the gap to 20-14 on Paris Walkup’s 30-yard reception.

Mtn. View (1-4, 0-2 SCA) tied it at 20-all when Yarber hit Walkup with a 6-yard score midway through the third quarter.

Yarber completed 17 of his 29 attempts for 159 yards and two scores. He also rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown. Walkup had eight receptions for 95 yards.

Thayer 34, Cabool 21: Michael Lowther scored three touchdowns as the Bobcats scored 27 unanswered points to rally from an early deficit and hand Cabool its first loss of the season.

Thayer (5-0) took the lead for good on quarterback Jacob Eckman’s 1-yard score in the third quarter. Lowther added 1- and 30-yard scores in the fourth to put the Bobcats, who trailed 14-7 after Ryan Smith’s second-quarter touchdown reception, ahead 34-14.

Smith scored three times for the Bulldogs, who were out-gained 343-234 by Thayer. Cabool (4-1) connected on just six of its 19 pass attempts.

Mountain Grove 47, Willow Springs 7: Aaron Charleson scored three times for the Panthers, who racked up 480 total yards as they cruised past the Bears.

Casey White was 11-of-16 passing for 239 yards for undefeated Mountain Grove (5-0). The Panthers led 35-0 at the half.
