A county trial in a 2003 case accusing a then Licking student with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl was postponed Monday.

Court records show Charles Tyler Clouse, accused of first-degree statutory sodomy and first-degree statutory rape, was to appear to face the charges. Rolla attorney David L. Steelman represents him, and he asked for a continuance in the case. Springfield attorney Dee Wampler earlier withdrew as counsel. Clouse was 17 when charged with the crime in spring 2004 after an investigation by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol and an FBI lab in Kansas City.

A co-defendant, Andrew J. Almany, entered a guilty plea to a charge of endangering the welfare of a child, a felony, in June. He was placed on probation.
