Sales tax revenue collected by Houston merchants dipped during the latest monthly distribution, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The tally from a one percent sales tax totaled $18,680, which was down $2,762 from the same period a year ago. For the year, $492,162 has been collected. That’s down $6,297 from a year ago.

Revenue from two quarter-cent sales taxes totaled about $4,480 each, which is a decrease of $695 from a year ago. For the year, about $119,176 has been collected. That’s an increase of more than $1,400 each from last year.

Collections from an eighth-cent sales tax earmarked for debt retirement on a fire truck totaled $2,209, which is a decrease of about $343 from last year. The total for the year is $59,323.
