Texas County officers arrested a man Sunday night near Hartshorn after the suspect assaulted a family member, threatened suicide and struck a deputy’s vehicle with his fleeing truck.
The man was apprehended two hours later when an officer used his vehicle to disable the suspect’s truck.
Authorities were called to the scene by a family member who claimed the man was threatening suicide after assaulting them. The responding deputy, whose vehicle was struck by the fleeing suspect, lost sight of the suspect while following him on a gravel road.
The suspect, who was threatening suicide from his cell phone and even returned to his residence for a few minutes before fleeing again, was spotted two hours later on a gravel road near his home. He was taken into custody after his vehicle was disabled.
The suspect was not named pending formal charges.
