One person was injured Friday in an accident near the Texas County Sheriff’s Department in downtown Houston, Houston police said.
Officers were called Friday to a report of an accident at Main and Second streets. Police said a Missouri Department of Conservation truck driven southbound on Second Street by Ryan A. Duey, 25, of West Plains, failed to stop at a sign and struck a westbound car on Main Street operated by Barbara R. Heflin, 57, of Raymondville.
Members of the Texas County Rescue Squad freed Eddie R. Heflin, 81, of Raymondville, from the vehicle, and he was transported to Texas County Memorial Hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.
The intersection often causes confusion. North and South traffic must stop. West and east vehicles don’t have to stop. Police are looking at the possibility of marking the roadway to indicate that stopping is required there.
