Thanks to the generosity of the Houston Lions Club, hundreds of children will be aided through the 23rd annual “Share Your Christmas” program this year. The organization offered space so that the annual drive could be held.
Organizer Pat Miller said an offer from the Lions Club came Friday after a published report that the charity drive was finding it difficult to locate a home this year. Lions Club members stepped in and offered their North U.S. 63 basement as the headquarters.
Miller said she was relieved to hear the offer after several weeks of trying to secure vacant space for the program, which aids children who otherwise would have little or no Christmas.
Applications for assistance will be taken from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. beginning Monday at the Houston Lions Club Den.
Donations of new and good used children’s clothing and toys will be accepting beginning that date, too. The hours are 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Those wanting to make a monetary donation to cover needs can make it payable to “Share Your Christmas.” The address is P.O. Box 170, Houston, Mo. 65483.
Cases also will be detailed beginning Dec. 6 in the Houston Herald, which started the annual event in 1984.
