A 17-year-old Houston boy is charged with attempting to shoot a deer last Wednesday at Spruce and Fredrick streets, following an investigation by the Houston Police Department and the Missouri Department of Conservation.

Authorities said Wyat P. M. Gann, 5564 S. U.S. 63, is charged with discharging a firearm within the city limits. The deer was found dead near the fence on the north side of Spruce Street. A 16-year-old Houston boy, who was already on probation, shot the deer and he was referred to the juvenile officer.

Witnesses said they saw a white Chevrolet pickup traveling east on Spruce Street at the time of the incident.

In other matters, police:

-Charged Newton U. Crawford III, 1202 John St., 32, with operating a motor vehicle while license is suspended on Nov. 18.

-Arrested Dallas M. Doyle, 29, of 722 Augusta, on a warrant charging him with resisting/interfering with arrest. He was unable to post $559 in bond on Nov. 16.

-Arrested Crystal A. Stafford, 22, of Willow Springs, on a warrant charging her with passing bad checks. She posted $2,000 bond on Nov. 15.

-Cited Christopher B. Richards, 26, of 1268 Brown Hill Road, with failing to register a motor vehicle on Nov. 13.

-Vandalism to two vehicles owned by Philip T. Meyer, 48, of 211 Grand Ave., has been referred to juvenile authorities. A 16-year-old Houston teen is suspected of the damage.
